MICA Honors 2001 Remodeler of the Year Awards Winners

For the third consecutive year, ARDO Contracting of Columbia will be the top recipient among nine Maryland home improvement companies that will be honored for their work during the year 2001 when the Maryland Improvement Contractors Association (MICA) presents its annual Remodeler of the Year Awards during November 15 ceremonies at the Center Club in Baltimore

This kitchen was part of the addition for which ADR Builders, Ltd. won a MICA Remodeler of the Year Award in 2000.

During the awards ceremony, MICA will present a total of 17 awards: eleven Remodeler of the Year Awards (ROYAL) and six Awards of Merit.

ARDO, which captured three ROYAL and two Awards of Merit last year, will receive three ROYALs and one Award of Merit for its 2001 projects. The company will receive MICA's ROYAL salute in the categories for Residential Kitchens Under $25,000, Residential Bath Over $25,000, and Residential Exterior Under $50,000. It will receive an Award of Merit in the Residential Exterior Over $50,000 competition

Finishing right behind ARDO Contracting with three awards – a ROYAL and two Awards of Merit – is Welsh Contracting and Remodeling Company of Baltimore. Welsh earned top honors in MICA's Residential Interiors Under $25,000 category and the Awards of Merit for Residential Kitchens Over $25,000 and Entire House entries.

New to MICA's awards list last year, was American Contracting Services of Jarrettsville. The company has maintained its award-winning ways and will be presented two ROYAL awards this year; one in the Residential Speciality category and the other in the Commercial projects category.

Three other home improvement companies will also receive two awards this year.
Bel Air Construction Company captured the ROYAL award in the Residential Exterior Over $50,000 group while earning an Award of Merit in the Residential Exterior Under $50,000 competition.

Also earning two awards is BGE Home Improvement. The company captured MICA's ROYAL award for Residential Interiors Over $25,000 and an Award of Merit for the Residential Bath Over $25,000 group.

In addition to these multi-award winners, four other professional home improvement companies each will be presented one award in recognition of their outstanding work in 2001.

Gilday Design and Remodeling Company of Silver Spring earned MICA's ROYAL award in the Residential Kitchens Over $25,000 competition, Bath Fitters of Baltimore will get the ROYAL in the Residential Bath Under $25,000, Thomson Remodeling of Roland Park in Baltimore earned the ROYAL in the Entire House catergory, and ADR Builders of Timonium will be presented an Award of Merit for its Residential Exterior Over $50,000 entry.

MICA is a non-profit association representing licensed home improvement contractors in Maryland. Among its primary objectives is to educate consumers to beware of unlicensed contractors and to provide education legislative representation to the legitimate contractors.
