Members
of the Maryland Improvement Contractors Association (MICA) hit
the golfing greens on June 21, 2002 for some fun in the sun and
a good cause.
The
event raised funds for MICA programs which inform the public on
the hazards of hiring unlicensed home improvement contractors
as well as the need for and advantages of maintaining homes in
good condition and to thereby help improve the nation's housing
inventory and individual property values.
Most
consumers are unaware that in Maryland and other states, that
if they hire an unlicensed contractor their recourse against that
unlicensed contractor is very limited should a problem develop.
More importantly if something in their home is damaged by the
contractor and the contractor is not properly insured, consumers
have a problem. Consumers are also responsible for the costs associated
with the injuries if they hire a contractor without the proper
insurance.
The
2003 MICA Golf Outing is
scheduled for Friday, June 20, 2003 at an exciting new location
- Mount Pleasant Golf Course in Baltimore. This year's golf outing
will be a captain's choice tournament featuring a shotgun start.
